Frequently asked questions

  • How do I apply to ISM?

Your application starts with our friendly Admissions Team, who will get to know you and your family, and support your child’s move to our school.

    • Get in touch with us today by filling in our enquiry form.
    • Come and see our campuses in person – or we can arrange a virtual meeting.
    • Submit your application form.
    • We will invite you and your child to an informal family interview.
    • If everyone is happy, we will offer your child a place.
  • Do you have an application deadline?
We welcome students all year round, and your child can join us at any time during the academic year (places permitting). Please get in touch with our Admissions Team to check current availability. If a year group is full, we can add your child to our waiting list.
  • How will you help my child settle in?

We know how important it is for your child to get off to a great start. We will send you plenty of information – covering things like transport and uniforms – ahead of your child’s start date. On their first day, we’ll personally welcome you onto campus. We’ll introduce your child to their teachers and classmates, and show them around, too.

Your child will also be allocated a ‘buddy’, a current student who will show them the ropes and make them feel at home during their first week. We invite all new parents into school at the end of week one to talk about how your child is getting on and answer any questions.

  • What do your tuition fees include?
Your child’s tuition fees will include everything they need to succeed in the classroom. They'll also cover most extra-curricular activities and all secondary exams.
  • What is the difference between your two campuses?

Our Rosinka Campus is home to Pre-Nursery through to Year 6 students. A hub for international families, Rosinka is located in the 134-acre Rosinka International Residences community in the north-west of our city.

Rosinka is perhaps the only school setting in Moscow where your child can cycle, climb, kayak, and hike in beautiful natural areas, all without leaving our secure gated community. Our bright classrooms, colourful playgrounds, and specialist STEAM and sports facilities are exciting places to explore and discover, too, where learning is brought to life in innovative and exhilarating ways.

Our Krylatskoe Campus welcomes Pre-Nursery through to Year 13 students. Easy to reach from Moscow city centre – and only minutes from popular expat areas – Krylatskoe shines impressively on the site of a former Olympic Park, which is now a protected area.

Coming into school every day, your child will be wowed by our specialist classrooms, the latest technology, and colourful communal spaces. We also have access to some of the finest sports facilities, both on and surrounding our modern campus.

  • What curriculum do you teach?

We’re the only school in Moscow to teach the English National Curriculum from Pre-Nursery all the way through to Sixth Form. This comprises:

  • What modern foreign languages do you offer?
As well as offering Russian for beginners and native speakers, we also teach French and Spanish.
  • What qualifications do your teachers have?

Our world-class teachers are UK qualified or equivalent and have extensive experience in British and international schools. They’re native English-speakers who have an in-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum.

Our teachers are constantly learning, too. We offer unparalleled opportunities for them to develop and grow, supported by accreditation from the best training organisations. This guarantees your child will receive the highest quality instruction.

  • Do you have teaching assistants?
Yes, we do. From Pre-Nursery to Year 6, every class has one teaching assistant who works alongside the teacher. Certain classes have two teaching assistants.
  • How do you support children for whom English isn't their first language?
We offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for students who need extra help with their speaking, reading, and writing. This includes specialist EAL assistant teachers in every year group, who provide in-class, one-to-one, and small group support. We also have a dedicated EAL department and coordinators on each campus.
  • Do you have provision for children with special educational needs?
Each campus has a dedicated special educational needs team, which creates tailored programmes for students who need additional support. This is fully personalised to each child’s needs and preferences, offering a combination of support in lessons and one-to-one sessions.
  • What after-school activities do you offer?
Our co-curricular programmes offer something for everyone, ensuring your child has the chance to do what they love. From science and STEAM to sport and music, we encourage our students to showcase their talents and pursue new passions.
  • What trips and excursions do you run?

Our students broaden their horizons on local day trips, exploring the stunning natural surrounds of our Rosinka and Krylatskoe Campuses, and visiting the museums and galleries of Moscow.

From Year 3, all our students are encouraged to take part in residential trips, too, which nurture their leadership skills and develop resilience, independence, and confidence.

  • Do you provide lunch?
Yes, our catering team prepares a choice of nutritious hot school lunch options every day. We offer a variety of cuisines and cater for all dietary requirements. We believe lunch is a social occasion, where students can come together and develop healthy habits.
  • Do you run a bus service?
Yes, our safe and reliable bus service covers popular residential areas across Moscow.
  • Do your students wear a uniform?
Yes, our students wear a smart and sophisticated school uniform. The ISM uniform also helps to create a strong sense of belonging and identity, both in school and the local community.
  • Where can I find term and holiday dates?
You can find key term, holiday, and event dates in our school calendar.
  • What do your students do after they graduate?
Our students get outstanding academic results that set them up for a bright future. This includes going on to study at the best universities in the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia. Recent ISM graduates have been accepted by the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and UCLA in California.
  • How can I get involved in school life?
We work hard to build strong relationships with our families. Our New Parent Programme – supported by our parent reps and admissions ambassadors – will help you settle into school, as well as life in our magnificent city. You’ll also be invited to regular coffee mornings, student art exhibitions, and sports competitions. And through our Parent Academy workshops – which cover topics like teaching techniques, assessment methods, and wellbeing themes – you’ll benefit from insights from staff and Nord Anglia specialists.
