Why join MET Panama?

For many of our families, the school admissions process starts with a simple question: ‘Why should I choose MET Panama for my child?’

Well, there are lots of reasons! We’ve listed just five below:

1. The top-performing school in Panama: Our students achieve outstanding International Baccalaureate Diploma point scores year after year, consistently above the global average.

2. The only IB World School in the country: The MET is the only International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum school in Panama, offering an all-through IB education, in English, from the age of 3 to 18.

3. University scholarships: Our students’ IB success opens doors to the world’s top universities. What’s more, in 2024, our graduates were awarded a remarkable $8.5 million in college scholarships.

4. Unique global learning experiences: From exclusive collaborations with MIT and UNICEF to life-changing expeditions and extra-curricular activities, we offer a breadth of extraordinary learning opportunities.

5. The world’s best teachers: The MET’s excellent reputation (and membership of the Nord Anglia Education family of premium schools) enables us to attract and retain inspiring, dedicated, and truly exceptional IB teachers.

Our website contains full details of our IB curriculum, academic results, and university destinations, as well as the enrichment activities we offer, our campus, and facilities.

It’s the perfect place to start your research.

When can my child start at the MET?

Your child can enrol at MET Panama at any time – we welcome new students all year round.

We offer a full onboarding program, which helps children integrate into their year group and class, no matter the time of the year. Our teachers are experts at welcoming learners at short notice, too.

The only exception to our year-round, rolling admissions policy is children joining us in Grades 12 and 13, for the IB Diploma. Our Diploma students must enroll in September, at the start of the first term.

There’s no better way to discover the MET than by visiting us in person.

You’ll picture your child learning in our bright classrooms, meet our teachers, and see our International Baccalaureate programs in action. The tour is designed around your child’s age and interests and can be arranged to fit your schedule.

If you can’t make it to Panama City, we’ll organize a video discovery call.

Step 3: Complete our application form and send us your documents

Ready to apply? Let our team know after your tour or video call! They’ll help you kickstart the application process.

You’ll need to:

1. Fill in our online application form. You’ll also need to provide us with a reference from your child’s current teacher, using our Teacher Recommendation Form.

2. Submit copies of official school reports or transcripts for current and previous years. If applicable, you’ll also need to send us the results of any standardized tests and/or psychological educational evaluations.

3. Provide the documents required by the Panamanian Ministry of Education. These include your child’s birth certificate, passport information, and a health certificate from their doctor. You can find a full list of documents on our entry requirements page.

Step 4: Interview and assessment

You’ve sent us your application – what’s next?

Family interview
After we’ve received your form and documents, we’ll get in touch to schedule a parent and student interview. This is a fantastic opportunity to talk about your child’s interests and ambitions, and for you to learn even more about the school.

Admissions assessment
Next, we’ll ask your child to complete an admissions assessment. This is appropriate to their age and may include language proficiency and/or special educational needs (SEN) screening.

Step 5: Evaluating your MET application – and offering your child a place

Your application, interview, and assessment will be reviewed by our expert Admissions Committee. The Admissions Manager will let you know the outcome by email.

Our five top tips for navigating the international school admissions process

1. Start early and stay organized

Get ahead of the game by gathering the documents you need early on, and by keeping a checklist. Staying organized will ease stress later.

2. Research the school culture

Take some time to get to know our values, mission, and what we offer, and tailor your application to ensure it’s the right fit.

3. Prepare for interviews and assessments

Interview and assessment prep is key! Prepare your child for potential questions – and make sure you get the answers you need, too.

4. Be authentic

Encourage your child to show their true character. Authenticity matters, and we love getting to know different personalities, backgrounds, and interests.

5. Choose the right referees

Select teachers who know your child well, can speak to their strengths, and who will provide specific examples on their recommendation forms.
